The Boulder Bunions fought off a late Wichita rally to win the game and the series 10-8 on Monday evening. Wichita clearly took the mighty Boulder Bunions closer to the edge than any other team ever has. The game is now being discussed as the greatest BH Baseball game of all-time. Boulder led 7-4 until the seventh inning when Wichita put up three runs to tie the contest at 7. It was then that Jonathan Mitchell, the hero from Game 6, knocked a go-ahead home run over the wall in left field. Boulder quickly tied the game in the bottom of the seventh on a Matt Talley homer.

The game went the ninth tied at 8, and it was there that Sergeant Carter became the hero. His home run was definitely one of the most dramatic moments of all the baseball games ever played. It would seem perfectly fitting to end the season on such a note, but no, Boulder must now go ahead to the Goldblum Cup and tackle the Pierce Brosnan Champion Charleston Windjammers.

St. Louis (1-0) simply outplayed the opposition. They amassed six runs on 11 hits. This statistic compares to Wichita’s two runs from five hits.

Rob Horner said his team was stuffed with “Opening Day confidence.” “I hope the confidence carries over,” he said, “because the season’s not going to get any easier.” The city of St. Louis seemed absolutely thrilled to see the Liquors win their opening game. “We want this city to be as proud of us as they are of other teams,” Horner said. “I think a win today was a big step toward acceptance.”

“It’s a big win,” Brandon Caldwell, the Sleeper’s manager said. “When two heavyweights collide on the field us and them did, it always provides fireworks. Today, most of the fireworks were defensive, and luckily, we have a pretty good defense.”

NORFOLK, VA – The Virginia Opossums (17-13) notched a crucial victory over divisional foe Wichita (13-17), 12-4, on Tuesday evening. Harvey Simon proved the hero by jacking three home runs and six RBIs. His performance puts him right back into an already tight MVP race. He has 8 home runs and 24 RBIs on the season.

For Virginia, the win extends their Central Division lead to four games. If they can sweep the three-game series with the Somethings, the division might prove a runaway, and Opossums fans can go ahead and starting ordering playoff tickets.

Virginia (2-4) lost their second straight game for the first time this season. Their offense failed to produce, and only tallied six hits for the entire game. Their only highlight was a double by Jeffrey Hansen. Virginia heads home to play Whisker City on Saturday. That same day, Wichita stays in their own ballpark to play Johnson City.

The two teams finish up their three-game series on Tuesday.

In the top of the 16^th, it would be Ward Dejesus that hit the game-winner with a 380 foot shot to left field. Whisker City was getting runners in scoring position in the bottom of the inning, but failed to convert. Wichita held on for an 8-7 opening day victory.

“It was not a sprint, that’s for sure,” Rob Gregory, Wichita’s manager stated. “I’m just happy that we held on. They’re a tough team, and we were fortunate to fight them off.” The two teams will meet again on Tuesday in game two of a three game series.
