Tacoma’s Defense Stifles San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO – In their home debut at Subway $5 Footlong Park, the San Antonio Sleepers looked to be asleep on offense. Tacoma’s star pitcher Jason Salers recorded five strikeouts but, more importantly, only allowed the Sleepers four hits and no runs. Salers pitched eight and two-thirds innings but eventually gave way to Richard Stevens, who recorded his first save of the season.

San Antonio (0-1) started the season as many experts predicted that they would, as the perpetual punching bags. The Sleepers were expected to be underdogs, and they proved that they highly deserved that honor. The Aroma’s superior pitching definitely kept them down for the entire game. San Antonio is the first team in Blue House Baseball to go scoreless.

Lewis Salers went four for five and led the Tacoma attack. Jason Salers had two RBIs, and Brian Iaffrati, Charley Johnson and Addison Kremlich all scored runs. San Antonio will host the Aroma again on Tuesday.
