THE PORCH – Lionelle sits brooding and holds a constant vigil monitoring Ninja’s unpredictable advances. After repulsing him twice from The Porch, one would think Lionelle would be reveling in her consecutive victories. Yet, she is a much different feline than those on the outside speculate. She is plagued by her thoughts, and those thoughts consist of painful memories and hardships.

Lionelle came to The Blue House by way of a chance encounter along a dreary railroad track. As a young kitten, she fled her original home for unspecified reasons. “She refuses to mention anything before the tracks,” one of her acquaintances stated. “Those details will live and die with her only. I dare not guess what happened.”

Motives aside, Lionelle encountered fate in the form of a speeding car, as she was apprehended and transported to The Blue House. “There is little doubt that she considers the House a prison,” The Blue House Lives’s junior kitty correspondent stated. “You can tell that she wants out. She dreams of distant shores, I think.”

Experts claim that Lionelle chose the porch as one of her strongholds for this reason. Out of all the venues in The Blue House, it lies in closest proximity to the outside. Lionelle can be spied daily spending myriad hours in deep reflection, as she stares through the prison-bar screen that encloses The Porch.

With regard to the war, specialists state that she takes an indifferent approach. One expert said, “She didn’t come to this war. It came to her. She was growing more content in this cell of a house, but Ninja toppled that pillar of hope. Lionelle is no longer just a prisoner. She’s a cornered prisoner, and she’s consistently on the defensive.” This expert, however, did not have an opinion regarding the fact that Lionelle declared formal war and launched the initial campaign at Study Window. He only left the flimsy statement, “She’s hasn’t attacked since then.”

Perhaps, the answers to Lionelle’s enigma lie deep in the darkened interiors of the Old Pontiac that she occupies as her strategic headquarters. No one has, as of yet, been granted access within this Kitty Pentagon, but there are those who speculate. “I think she is assembling a secret weapon,” one war strategian said. “Remember the van that she used to thwart Ninja’s first Porch invasion? I believe that was only a prelude. She could be constructing an atomic litter bomb for all we know.”

The secrets behind Lionelle may rest in Old Pontiac's darkened halls.

For now, Lionelle can only be categorized as a tortured soul clinging to a supportive outpost. She seems content to wait as well. “Her strategy is to maintain a defensive front,” Jeff L. Horner, The Blue House Lives’s chief kitty correspondent said. “She’s willing to let Ninja make the move and make the mistake. Her best things are yet to come.” As she languishes on The Porch, one must ask the question, “For what is she fighting?” Considering her shadowy past, the answer may be blowing in the House’s air conditioning. Michael C. Fox, Lionelle’s closest companion, declared, “She’s fighting for me. I mean, who’s going to protect me with Ninja running crazy through this house?” Lionelle, however, true to her nature, declined to comment.

The Couch Surfer Returns

By Scooter

THE BLUE HOUSE - In The Study, I almost immediately noticed it: the crumpled blanket, the disheveled cushions and the pillow carved out in the shape of a head. Like the three little bears, someone has been sleeping on The Study’s couch. It was then, at that very moment, I realized it: the Couch Surfer was back. Read More
